Convert Text to Speech with VoiceGen Application

VoiceGen is a free and open source text to speech software for Linux. Using VoiceGen tou can read your text as a text reader or a narrator app. It supports multiple offline and online engines such as svox (picotts) and limited Streamlabs (amazon polly) . It is released under GNU General Public License v3.0. You can also save the output as audio file. It is a simple and easy to use application.

How to Install VoiceGen on Ubuntu Linux

VoiceGen is available as a flatpak package from flathub. So you need to install flatpak and flathub your system. Follow below link for installation instructions. Restart your system after the installation.

How to Install flatpak on Ubuntu

Now open the terminal application (ctrl+alt+t) and run below VoiceGen flatpak install command. It will install the latest version of VoiceGen app on your system.

flatpak install flathub io.gitlab.persiangolf.voicegen

After the installation you can start VoiceGen using this command.

flatpak run io.gitlab.persiangolf.voicegen

And uninstall VoiceGen using this command.

sudo flatpak uninstall io.gitlab.persiangolf.voicegen
