How to install ImCompressor on Ubuntu – Image Compressor

ImCompressor is a free and open source image compressor for Linux. Using this you can compress JPEG and PNG image files. It comes with lossless and lossy compression modes. You can also decide whether you need image metadata details or not. It is simple and easy to use image compressor utility. It is released under open source GNU General Public License v3. It is wriiten in Python 3 and uses OptiPNG, pngquant, and Jpegoptim for compression.

Install ImCompressor Image Compressor on Ubuntu:

You can install ImCompressor Image Compressor on Ubuntu via flatpak. For that you need to install and setup flatpak on your your Ubuntu system to install and use flatpak apps in your ubuntu. Please follow the below url for Flatpak installation and setup tutorial.

How to install flatpak on ubuntu:

After the installation of flatpak in you Ubuntu, Open your terminal app (Ctrl+Atl+T) and run the below command

flatpak install flathub com.github.huluti.ImCompressor

It will install the latest version of ImCompressor Image Compressor on Ubuntu. During the installation it will ask “Do you want to install it?[Y/n]”. Type y and press the enter to start the installation. it will ask again one more time to confirm it like that. Type y and press enter.you can run by using the below command in terminal.

flatpak run com.github.huluti.ImCompressor

If you prefer the GUI method then, click the show applications in the Ubuntu Gnome dock and type ImCompressor in the search box and click ImCompressor to open ImCompressor Image Compressor.
