VidCutter – Video Trimming and Joining app

VidCutter is a free simple Qt5 based app for for Linux, Windows and mac from Pete Alexandrou. It is written in Python3 & PyQt5 GUI framework. It uses FFmpeg as its decoding and encoding backend. Using this tool you can trim and join your videos very easily.

How to install VidCutter on ubuntu

To install VidCutter on ubuntu, you need to add the authors’s official repository. Open terminal and run the below command.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ozmartian/apps

Then type your ubuntu password.And hit enter key confirm the installation.
Then type the below command and hit enter,

sudo apt-get update

Then type the below command and hit enter and if asked type Y and hit enter to install VidCutter.

sudo apt install vidcutter

After the successful installation of VidCutter restart your ubuntu. Type the below command in terminal app to start it .



Click the Dash home from unity launcher. And type VidCutter in the search field. Then click VidCutter

The trimming process is very simple , just click the open button and load your video and trim using start and end button. And then save your clip.
