Google is celebrating Earth Day with a new animated flowers google doodle on its homepage. Earth Day was first observed on March 21, 1970, the first day of spring in the northern hemisphere. Earth Day is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network and is celebrated in more than 175 countries every year.The genesis of Earth Day is credited to Gaylord Nelson, then a U.S. Senator from Wisconsin, after witnessing the ravages of the 1969 massive oil spill in Santa Barbara, California.

Robert Doisneau’s 100th birthday google doodle

Google is celebrating Robert Doisneau’s 100th birthday with his landmark shots in a new google doodle on its homepage.
Robert Doisneau (14 April 1912 – 1 April 1994) was a French photographer. In the 1930s he used a Leica on the streets of Paris; together with Henri Cartier-Bresson he was a pioneer of photojournalism.He is renowned for his 1950 image Le baiser de l’hôtel de ville (Kiss by the Hôtel de Ville), a photo of a couple kissing in the busy streets of Paris. Robert Doisneau was appointed a Chevalier (Knight) of the National Order of the Légion d’honneur in 1984

Eadweard J Muybridge’s 182nd birthday google doodle

Google is celebrating Eadweard Muybridge’s 182nd birthday with a animated The Horse in Motion google doodle. Eadweard J. Muybridge (9 April 1830 – 8 May 1904) was an English photographer of Dutch ancestry who spent much of his life in the United States. He is known for his pioneering work on animal locomotion which used multiple cameras to capture motion, and his zoopraxiscope, a device for projecting motion pictures that pre-dated the flexible perforated film strip.

Akira Yoshizawa’s 101st birthday google doodle

Google is celebrating Akira Yoshizawa’s 101st with a new origami doodle on the Google homepage,created by Robert J Lang, one of the world’s leading origami artists.
Akira Yoshizawa (14 March 1911 – 14 March 2005) was an origamist, considered to be the grandmaster of origami. According to his own estimation made in 1989, he created more than 50,000 models, of which only a few hundred designs were diagrammed in his 18 books.
