How to install RawTherapee on Ubuntu – Raw image Editing tool

RawTherapee is free and Open Source image editing tool for raw image types for Windows, macOS and Linux. It is released under open source GPLv3 license and it is available in over 15 languages. Using this you can edit raw files from your digital cameras and produce great looking photos. It can help to learn professional photography easily. It comes with advanced color+detail editing, modern demosaicing algorithms and High Dynamic Range DNG.

Install RawTherapee Raw image Editing tool on Ubuntu:

You can install RawTherapee Raw image Editing tool via AppImage on Ubuntu. First download the latest version of RawTherapee Raw image Editing tool appimage file via the below download link.

Download RawTherapee

Here currently the downloaded file name is “RawTherapee-releases-5.7-20190910.AppImage
Right click on the downloaded .AppImage file and select Properties. Then go to the Permissions tab and check the Allow executing files as program option.

Open your terminal and type the below command in the terminal and hit enter.

cd Downloads

Note: Here my default download path is Downloads folder. You can change according to your download location.

Then type the below command and press the enter key. Then type your Ubuntu password. Note:You can change the below command according to your downloaded file name.

sudo ./RawTherapee-releases-5.7-20190910.AppImage

During the installation it will ask to integrate the RawTherapee to you system. just click yes.

After the successful installation of RawTherapee Raw image Editing tool, click the show applications in the Ubuntu Gnome dock and type RawTherapee in the search box and click RawTherapee to open it.[OR] you can double click the downloaded file to run it.
