F3D is a free and open source 3D viewer application for Linux, Windows and MacOS. It is minimalist and fast withot any GUI. You can fully control F3D using arguments in the command line. Currently it supports vtk, ply, stl, dcm, nrrd, nhrd, tif, ex2, pts, step, iges, abc, obj, gltf,.glb, 3ds, wrl, fbx, dae, off, dxf and more file formats. It is released under BSD 3-Clause License. After the installation you should be able to open any supported file by from your file manager or by running F3D and then dragging and dropping files into it or from the terminal.

How to Install F3D 3D Viewer on Ubuntu Linux
F3D is available as a flatpak package file from remote flathub and native deb package file. If you don’t have flatpak and flathub on your system, the first install it and restart your system.
Now open the terminal app (ctrl+alt+t) and run below F3D flatpak installation command. It will install the latest version of F3D on Ubuntu Linux.
flatpak install flathub io.github.f3d_app.f3d
You can open it using this command.
flatpak run io.github.f3d_app.f3d
And uninstall F3D using below command.
sudo flatpak uninstall io.github.f3d_app.f3d
Install F3D via DEB:
Download f3d from the above download link and save it in your Downloads folder. Now in your terminal run below apt install command.
sudo apt install ./Downloads/f3d-1.3.1-Linux.deb
Here “f3d-1.3.1-Linux.deb” is the downloaded file name. You can change above command based on your downloaded file name.
