Briar Secure Messaging Application

Briar is a free and open source secure messaging application for Linux and Android. Briar doesn’t rely on a central server and your messages are encrypted, stored securely on your device. Messages are synchronized directly between the users devices. You don’t even need internet. It uses Bluetooth or Wi-Fi to sync your messages. It uses Tor network and encrypted end-to-end to prevent eavesdroppers.

Install Briar on Ubuntu Linux

Briar is available as a flatpak package from flathub. First install flatpak and flathub on your Linux system and restart after it. Now open the terminal command-line software using the ctrl+alt+t keys and run below Briar flatpak installation command.

flatpak install flathub org.briarproject.Briar

It will install the latest version of Briar application on your system. You can open it via below command or via the applications menu.

flatpak run org.briarproject.Briar

If you don’t live it then uninstall Briar via this command.

sudo flatpak uninstall org.briarproject.Briar
