Now you can capture keyboard and mouse events in Linux easily with KmCaster application. KmCaster is a free and open source software for Linux, macOS and Windows. It displays your keyboard key presses and all mouse click events in the desktop screen. You can use this feature for your screen casting and screen recording in educational or any other type of video making. It is based on Java and released under MIT License. Some other similar application is ScreenKey.
It shows all left and right mouse clicks and mouse scrolling and all keyboard key presses. All the events are accurate modifier key states. It also works with Sikuli like emulation software. You can easily change the application position in your desktop and set the custom display size.
Install KmCaster on Ubuntu
KmCaster is available as flatpak package. So you don’t need the required correct java version on your system. It automatically comes with java. Follow the below tutorial link for flatpak installation if you don’t have. Restart your system after that flatpak installation.
Open the terminal console application using ctrl+alt+k or from show applications menu and run this KmCaster flatpak installation command.
flatpak install flathub io.github.davejarvis.kmcaster
After the KmCaster installation you can run it with below flatpak command.
flatpak run io.github.davejarvis.kmcaster
