Splash is a free and open source video mapping software tailored for Linux and designed to empower users in the intricate world of video projection. This includes meticulous adjustments of intrinsic and extrinsic parameters, precise blending, and color calibration, ensuring a seamless and immersive visual experience.

One of Splash’s standout features is its ability to effortlessly handle diverse video sources. From conventional video files in popular formats to specialized Hap variations, Splash accommodates a wide array of inputs. Moreover, it seamlessly integrates with video input devices such as cameras and capture cards, NDI video feeds, and leverages shmdata.

Splash includes an addon for Blender, a powerful 3D modeling tool. This addon facilitates the export of draft configurations and enables real-time updates to meshes, providing users with a dynamic and interactive mapping experience.

Install Splash on Ubuntu

Splash is available as flatpak package file. If you don’t have flatpak, then install and setup flatpak and flathub on your system. Follow the below installation tutorial link. If you already installed it on your system, then just skip the below link and directly run the flatpak Splash installation command.

How to install flatpak and flathub

After flatpak installation restart your system.

Open the terminal app (ctrl+alt+t), run below command to install splash Modular Video Mapping Software.

flatpak install flathub xyz.splashmapper.Splash

After the Splash flatpak installation you can run it via this command or via Show Apps Application menu.

flatpak run xyz.splashmapper.Splash

You can also uninstall it using below commands.

flatpak uninstall xyz.splashmapper.Splash

sudo flatpak uninstall xyz.splashmapper.Splash
