Mixxx is a free and open source DJ software for Windows, MacOS and Linux. Using this you can creative live digital music files mixes on your system. It comes with Built-in mappings for DJ controller hardware, programmable mapping system and Auto DJ support. It supports sound effects, vinyl records controlled playback, BPM, musical key detection and master sync. Some of the other important features are 64 sampler decks support, music library management with iTunes, Traktor and MusicBrainz Library Integration, recording and broadcasting support. It supports MP3, OGG, WAVE, FLAC, and AAC (M4A) playback and WAVE, OGG, and MP3 recording.
Install Mixxx DJ software on Ubuntu
Here in Ubuntu you can install Mixxx DJ software via official ubuntu repository, PPA, Flatpak and native DEB package file.
Install Mixxx via PPA:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mixxx/mixxx
sudo apt update
sudo apt install mixxx
Install Mixxx via Flatpak:
You can install Mixxx DJ software via flatpak and flathub. First follow below guide if you not installed flatpak on your system.
How to install flatpak on Ubuntu:
After the flatpak installation, run this command in terminal.
flatpak install flathub org.mixxx.Mixxx
you can start Mixxx DJ software via this command.
flatpak run org.mixxx.Mixxx
Install Mixxx via Ubuntu repository:
This method is not recommended because this version is usually out of date. In terminal run
sudo apt update
sudo apt install mixxx
Install Mixxx via DEB:
Download Mixxx
Download Mixxx in .deb file format from above link and save it on your Downloads folder. And run below commands.
cd Downloads
sudo dpkg -i mixxx-2.2.3-bionic-amd64.deb
sudo apt-get install -f
Here “mixxx-2.2.3-bionic-amd64.deb” is the downloaded mixxx file name.
