X File Explorer or XFE is a free and open source file manager for Linux. It is lightweight and easy to use linux file manager based on old X Win Commander. It is released under open source GNU General Public License. The only requirement for XFE is FOX library. It also comes with command-line support. It comes with integrated RPM/DEB package installer, uninstaller, test editor, image viewer and with four file manager modes.
Some other important features are Drag and Drop support, custom shell scripts, trash can, Mount/Unmount devices, bookmarks and themes support. Using XFE you can create archives and extract archives.
Install XFE on Ubuntu
X File Explorer is available in ubuntu software repositories. You can install it via the terminal app (ctrl+alt+t). Open your terminal app and run below command.
sudo apt update
Enter your Ubuntu user password. It will update the ubuntu software source list. Then run below XFE installation command.
sudo apt install xfe
It will install the latest X File Explorer on Ubuntu. You can open it from show all application menu or from below command.
xfe
