How to install Tux Paint on Ubuntu – Drawing tool for kids

Tux Paint is a free open source kids drawing application for macOS, Windows, Linux, Android and iOS. This program mainly target kids under 12 years old. This is really fun app for kids. It comes with good sound effects, full-screen mode to hide other things from kids and fun cartoon Tux to guide kids. The drawing tools are various type of paint brushes, Rubber stamp with photographic and cartoon images, line tool, shape tool, Text and Label tools and Eraser. And one of the important tool is Magic tool. Using this you can do more than 50 tasks like blur parts of the picture, make parts of the picture look like a cartoon, Throw confetti over your image, flip the image vertically, draws curvy-stalked flowers and lots more. It is released under the GNU General Public License.

Install Tux Paint on Ubuntu

You can install Tux Paint on Ubuntu via flatpak package. For that you need to install and setup flatpak on your your system. Please follow the below link for Flatpak installation tutorial.

After the installation of flatpak, run the below command in your terminal to install the latest version Tux Paint kids drawing tool on Ubuntu.

flatpak install flathub org.tuxpaint.Tuxpaint

During the installation it will ask like this “Do you want to install it?[Y/n]”. Type y and press the enter to start the installation. it will ask one more time to confirm it like that. You can run Tux Paint by running the below command terminal.

flatpak run org.tuxpaint.Tuxpaint

Or click the show applications in the Ubuntu Gnome dock and type Tux Paint in the search box and click Tux Paint to open it. If you need Tux Paint for other platform, you can download from below link.

If you want to remove Tux paint from your system, run the below command in terminal.

flatpak uninstall org.tuxpaint.Tuxpaint
