Create Textures and Paint 3D models with Material Maker

Material Maker is a free and open source procedural textures authoring and 3D model painting tool for Windows, Linux and MacOS. It is based on Godot Engine and released under MIT License. Using this tool you can create static PBR material, dynamic PBR material, raymarching material, dynamic unlit materials and more.

In this tool materials and brushes are defined as graphs. It comes with GLSL shaders, painting engine, library of more than 200 nodes, graph view, 2D and 3D preview panels,Histogram panel and more. You can export the output for the Godot, Unity and Unreal game engines.

How to Install Material Maker on Ubuntu Linux

Material Maker is available as a flatpak package file from flathub. So first you need to install flatpak and flathub on your system. Follow below link for installation instructions.

How to install flatpak and flathub on your system

Restart your system after the above installation. Now in your terminal app (ctrl+alt+t) run below flatpak install command.

flatpak install flathub io.github.RodZill4.Material-Maker

It will install the latest Material Maker application on your system. After that open it using this command.

flatpak run io.github.RodZill4.Material-Maker

You can also run it from the applications menu. If you want to uninstall it then follow below command.

sudo flatpak uninstall io.github.RodZill4.Material-Maker
