How to install Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup Game on Ubuntu

Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup is a free and open source roguelike adventure game for Windows, macOS, Android and linux. In this game you need to find and rescue rescue the mystifyingly fabulous Orb of Zot by defeating all various types of dangerous dungeon monsters in your path. You also need to do some exploration and treasure-hunting in this game. You can choose your character’s species, occupation and weapons. The game comes in console UI and Graphical UI versions. Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup is a branch of original Dungeon Crawl Reference game.

Install Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup Game on Ubuntu

You need to open your terminal app (Ctrl+Alt+T) and type and enter the below command to install the source repository.

echo 'deb https://crawl.develz.org/debian crawl 0.24' | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list

Then type your ubuntu user password if need. After that run the below command to install the Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup signing key on your system.

wget https://crawl.develz.org/debian/pubkey -O - | sudo apt-key add -

Then run this command to update your package list on ubuntu system.

sudo apt-get update

If you need the Graphical UI tiles versions of the game then run the below command to install it.

sudo apt-get install crawl-tiles

If you like the command line version of Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup Game, then run the below command in terminal to install it.

sudo apt-get install crawl

You can also install these two versions in the same time and same system. After the installation, click the show applications in the Ubuntu Gnome dock and type Dungeon Crawl in the search box and click Dungeon Crawl or Dungeon Crawl tiles to open it.
