mtPaint is a small open source painting application for Windows and Linux. It is developed by Mark Tyler and currently maintained by Dmitry Groshev.It is released under GNU General Public License. It supports Up to 100 layers, Up to 1000 undo steps and Zoom levels between 10% and 2000%. you can take screenshots, Edit indexed palette or RGB images and Save and load BMP, GIF, JPEG, LSS, PNG, TGA, TIFF, XPM, XBM files.
Using this mtPaint tool you can also create animations and animated GIF’s. Transform image gamma, brightness, contrast, saturation, hue, posterize from a single dialog. It supports effects such as invert, greyscale, isometric transformations, edge detect, sharpen, unsharp mask, soften, Gaussian blur, emboss, bacteria.
Install mtPaint on Ubuntu
To install the stable version of mtPaint, just run the below commands one by one in your terminal app.
sudo apt update
sudo apt install mtpaint
After the successful installation of mtPaint on Ubuntu, just click the Show Apps from the Ubuntu dock and search for mtPaint. You can also open it via below command.

Install mtPaint via PPA:
In your terminal app, add the webupd8team PPA and install it. To do that run the below commands one by one on your terminal.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/mtpaint
sudo apt update
sudo apt install mtpaint
