Weasis Open Source Medical DICOM viewer Software

Weasis is a free and open source medical DICOM viewer for Linux, Windows and MacOS. You can use this application in hospitals, health networks, multi center research trials and any healthcare systems. You can also integrate it to PACS, RIS, HIS or PHR. It comes with API for building custom plug-ins, DICOM Send, DICOM Query/Retrieve, DICOMWeb, Dicomizer module support and more.

Some other notable features are DICOM ECG Viewer, parametric map, magnifier glass, DICOM printing, SUV measurement, Histogram and import CD/DVD and local DICOM files. It is written in Java and released under Eclipse Public License 2.0 or Apache License, Version 2.0.

Install Weasis on Ubuntu Linux

Weasis DICOM viewer is available via deb, flatpak and snap package files. Download the latest version of Weasis in .deb file format from the above download link and save in your Downloads folder.In terminal command-line app (ctrl+alt+t) run below commands to install Weasis.

sudo apt update
sudo apt install ./Downloads/weasis_4.0.1-1_amd64.deb

Here “weasis_4.0.1-1_amd64.deb” is the downloaded file name and Downloads is the path. You can change these commands based on your file name and download path.

Install Weasis via Snap:

You can also install Weasis app via snap package. in terminal app run below Weasis snap install command.

sudo snap install weasis

You can uninstall it via below command.

sudo snap remove weasis

Install Weasis via flatpak:

First install flatpak and flathub on your system and restart after the successful installation. Now in the terminal application run below Weasis flatapak installation command. It will install the latest version of Weasis your your Linux system.

flatpak install flathub io.github.nroduit.Weasis

After that open Weasis using

flatpak run io.github.nroduit.Weasis

And uninstall Weasis via

sudo flatpak uninstall io.github.nroduit.Weasis
