John James Audubon (April 26, 1785 – January 27, 1851) was a French-American ornithologist, naturalist, hunter, and painter.  He painted, catalogued, and described the birds of North America in a manner far superior to what had gone before.

50th anniversary of first human spaceflight google doodle

Today google celebrates 50th anniversary of first human spaceflight and the new Google Doodle is showing the letters of its logo displaying with a space shuttle being launched when mouseover, and an astronaut. Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin (9 March 1934 – 27 March 1968) was a Soviet pilot and cosmonaut. He was the first human to journey into outer space when his Vostok spacecraft completed an orbit of the Earth on April 12, 1961.
