Rhythmic gymnastics is a sport in which individuals or teams of 2 or more manipulate one or two pieces of apparatus: rope, clubs, hoop, ball, ribbon and Free (no apparatus). An individual athlete only manipulates 1 apparatus at a time. When multiple gymnasts are performing a routine together a maximum of two types of apparatus may be distributed through the group. An athlete can exchange apparatus with a team member at any time through the routine.

Whitewater slalom (canoe slalom since November 2008) is a competitive sport where the aim is to navigate a decked canoe or kayak through a course of hanging gates on river rapids in the fastest time possible. It is one of the two kayak and canoeing disciplines at the Summer Olympics.

Basketball has been a Summer Olympics sport for men consistently since 1936. Prior to its inclusion as a medal sport, it was held as demonstration event in 1904. Women’s basketball was played in the Olympics only since 1976.

Google is celebrating 2012 london olympic with a new London 2012 Pole Vault doodle on its homepage. This google doodle shows a female pole vaulter trying to take a leap over the bar using a pole and the logo of Google is seen behind the stadium.
Pole vaulting is a track and field event in which a person uses a long, flexible pole as an aid to leap over a bar. Pole jumping competitions were known to the ancient Greeks, Cretans and Celts. It has been a full medal event at the Olympic Games since 1896 for men and 2000 for women.

Google is celebrating 2012 london olympic with a new London 2012 Hockey doodle on its homepage. This google doodle shows a female player holding a hook-shaped stick playing on a hockey pitch.
The London 2012 Hockey sports event started on the 29th of July 2012 and will be played until the 11th of August 2012. Men’s Hockey made its debut at the London 1908 Games and  first women’s Olympic hockey competition was held at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow.

Google is celebrating 2012 london olympic with a male gymnast displaying his craft on rings doodle on its homepage. This is the fifth London Olympics doodle.
The rings, also known as steady rings (in contrast to flying rings), is an artistic gymnastics apparatus and the event that uses it. It is traditionally used only by male gymnasts, due to its extreme upper-body strength requirements. Gymnasts typically wear ring grips while performing on the rings.

Fencing competitions at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London are scheduled to be held from 28 July to 5 August at ExCeL Exhibition Centre. Ten events (6 individual, 4 team) are scheduled to be contested. Qualification will be primarily based on the FIE Official Ranking as at 2 April 2012, with further individual places available at 4 zonal qualifying tournaments.
