Make Triangulated Illustrations from Photos with FOSStriangulator

FOSStriangulator is a free and open source triangulated illustrations maker for Linux and Windows. It is released under open source GNU General Public License. It is based on Concept Farm’s Image Triangulator code. Using this you can triangulate any image in this application. This is a simple and easy to use application. It is still in early days. You can save your triangulated image in pdf file format. The level of abstraction you get depends on the amount of points you plot on your image.

Install FOSStriangulator on Ubuntu

FOSStriangulator is available as a flatpak package. You need to install flatpak and setup flathub on your Ubuntu system to install it. Follow below tutorial for flatpak and flathub setup guide. Restart your system after flatpak installation.

Install flatpak and flathub

Open your terminal app using ctrl+alt+t keys and run this FOSStriangulator flatpak installation command.

flatpak install flathub org.enjoyingfoss.FOSStriangulator

You can run FOSStriangulator via this command.

flatpak run org.enjoyingfoss.FOSStriangulator

Just choose an image from the left side controls and set edge weight as 1, edge threshold as 80 and edge points as 400. You can also set it manually directly in image. then click the result option in the display options. And finally if you want in pdf just click the export to pdf button. That’s all.
