How to install HP Linux Printing Drivers HPLIP on Ubuntu

HP Linux Imaging and Printing in short HPLIP is a HP developed printer and scanner drivers for Linux. Currently it supports a total of 3088 HP printer,scanner and fax devices.It is released under BSD License, GNU General Public License and MIT License. Install HPLIP on Ubuntu

Download the latest version of HP Linux Printing Drivers from the below download link and save it on your Downloads folder.

You can also download HPLIP via below link. Select Ubuntu during selection.

Download HPLIP

Now open the terminal (ctrl+alt+t) run below installation commands.

cd Downloads

Here the downloaded file name is “hplip-3.20.11.run” . You can change the below commands based on your downloaded file name. Then run

sudo chmod +x ~ hplip-3.20.11.run

If needed enter you Ubuntu user password. Then run

./hplip-3.20.11.run

During the installation just hit the enter key to accept the default option which is marked with * and complete the installation.

HPLIP installation

After the installation just restart your system and plug or re-plug your HP device to connect it.
