Compress JPEG and PNG Images with Curtail Image Compressor

Curtail is a free and open source image compressor software for Linux. Using Curtail you can compress JPEG and PNG files. It supports lossy and lossless compression. The application is simple and easy to use just drag and drop your image in the application and it automatically compress it. Using this you can remove file metadata, dark theme support and Progressive encode JPG support. You can also set the PNG lossy compression level, PNG lossless compression level and JPG lossy compression level in the settings.

Install Curtail Image Compressor on Ubuntu

Curtail Image Compressor is available as a flatpak package for Linux. You can easily install it via your terminal application. First install flatpak in your system using below link.

How to install flatpak and flathub

Restart your system after the flatpak installation. If you already installed flatpak then skip the above steps. Open the terminal application. You can open it from the show applications menu or by pressing ctrl+alt+t keys and enter this below Curtail flatpak installation command.

flatpak install flathub com.github.huluti.Curtail

And run Curtail app via this command.

flatpak run com.github.huluti.Curtail
