How to Install Viber on Ubuntu

Viber is a free voice over IP (VoIP) and instant messaging (IM) application owned by Rakuten and provides seamless communication across Google Android, iOS, Microsoft Windows, Apple macOS, and Linux. It allows users to make free and secure calls, send messages, engage in voice and video calls, participate in group chats and calls, and express themselves with stickers and GIFs and all with the added benefit of end-to-end encryption.

To install Viber on Ubuntu, you have two options: using the portable AppImage or the native .deb package. Download the latest Viber messaging application in .AppImage file format from the above download link and save it on your Downloads folder. Open the terminal application (ctrl+alt+t) and run below commands.

cd Downloads
sudo chmod +x ~ viber.AppImage
./viber.AppImage

Install Viber via DEB:

It is also available as a deb file format. Download the latest Viber in .deb file format from the above download link and save it on your Downloads folder. In the terminal application run below commands. It will install the latest Viber on your system.

sudo apt install ./Downloads/viber.deb

These steps will integrate Viber into your Ubuntu system, providing you with a feature-rich communication platform.
