Index is a free and open source file manager software for Linux. Using Index, you can browse your system, USB sticks SD card files and applications. It comes with music preview and you can also preview text, image, and video files. Some other features are share files with external applications, split views, tabs support, Icon grid and list view, compression and extraction of file archives, recent files overview and embedded terminal.
Install Index File Manager on Ubuntu
Index File Manager is available as a flatpak package file from the remote flathub store. If you don’t have then install flatpak and flathub on your system and restart it after the installation.
Install flatpak and flathub on Ubuntu
After that open the terminal app (ctrl+alt+t) and run below Index flatpak install command. It will install the latest version of Index on your system.
flatpak install flathub org.kde.index
And start Index using this command.
flatpak run org.kde.index
You can also uninstall Index using below command.
sudo flatpak uninstall org.kde.index
That’s it.
