Google announced that its language translator service Google Translate hits 200 million monthly active users. Translation via Chrome, mobile apps, YouTube and from other services are not included in the count. And more than 92 percent of traffic comes from outside the United States.
Google started its translation service on 2001 with eight languages to English. Initially google uses commercial machine translation tool but now it uses data driven learning from data machine translation. Google translate now offers 64 different languages, including Bengali, Basque, Swahili, Yiddish, even Esperanto.
Google also provides translation service in chrome, text in mobile photos, YouTube video captions, and speech-to-speech on smartphones.
