Pogo is a free and open source light-weight audio player for Linux. It is a fork of popular Decibel Audio Player. It supports  Ogg Vorbis, MP3, FLAC, Musepack, Wavpack, and MPEG-4 AAC file formats. It is best player for people who organize their music by albums on the hard drive. It is simple and minimalist Media Player.  You can quickly search for music on local drives and in the playlist. It also comes with an equalizer and displays covers and desktop notifications support. It is written in Python and uses GTK+ and GStreamer.

To create Desktop shortcuts in ubuntu 11.10,gnome-panel package is required first.

1.Open Terminal.To open terminal click the Dash home from unity launcher.And type terminal in the search field. And click Terminal.

2.Type the below code in terminal and hit enter.

sudo apt-get install --no-install-recommends gnome-panel

3.Then type below code in terminal and hit enter

gnome-desktop-item-edit ~/Desktop/ --create-new

3.The create lancher window will pop-up,Type application name in the name field and type application name or path or browse in the command field. And click Ok button.

To install LiVES on ubuntu 11.10

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ferramroberto/lives

Type your ubuntu password if needed and press enter.

3.Then press enter to continue or ctrl-c to cancel adding the ppa.

4.Type below command and hit enter

sudo apt-get update

5.Then type below command and press enter

sudo apt-get install lives

6.Type y and hit enter to continue the installtion.

Ubuntu 12.04 Alpha 1 is now available for download and testing.What’s new in this Ubuntu 12.04 Alpha 1?

Linux Kernel 3.2.0-2.
Software Centre adds support for multiple screenshots.
Banshee, Tomboy and Gbrainy have been removed.
Banshee has been removed as the default media player and replaced by Rhythmbox.
Vala rewritten Zeitgeist 0.9 alpha 1 has replaced the “old” Zeitgeist.
Nautilus has received tags that can be applied to any file or folder.
Firefox 9 Beta and Thunderbird 9 Beta are included.

Ubuntu 12.04 LTS is scheduled for release in April 26th 2012.
