New Google+ – New design and features

Google+ rolled out its secound major redesign on wednesday.And According to Google, Google+ has now 190 million active Google+ stream users and 390 million active across Google (+1’ing apps in Google Play, making video calls in Gmail, sharing videos from YouTube) users.

What’s new?

A multi-column layout – one, two, or three columns of content depending on your screen size and orientation.
Photos and videos can fill the entire width of the stream.
The sharebox bounces, the menus slide, and the cards flip and fade.
Messaging is richer, and more responsive.
With conversation history, you can swipe back in time.
No more annoying notifications.

Google+ Vanity URLs

According to a blog post by google employee Saurabh Sharma, Google+ is rolling out vanity (custom) URLs for google+ profiles and pages.A custom URL is a short, easy to remember web address that links directly to your profile or page on Google+.

Now google introducing custom URLs to a limited number of verified profiles and pages.

250 million Google+ accounts

Google revealed in the Google I/O developer conference that Google+ now has over 250 million accounts and only about 150 million of those accounts are currently active.More users access Google+ on their mobile device than through a desktop computer and the average Google+ user spends 12 minutes a day “in stream”, up from 9 minutes just a few months ago.

dynamic ribbon of applications on the left.
drag apps up or down to create the order you want
hover over certain apps to reveal a set of quick actions
show or hide apps by moving them in and out of “More”

A stream of conversation “cards” that make it easier to scan and join discussions
An activity drawer that highlights the community around your content
always-updated list of invitations from the people in your circles

A New Look for the +1 Button

Google rolling out new +1 button to all users. This new update also increase the numbers in your +1 buttons,to better reflect social activity around your content.

The +1 buttons will automatically update and there’s nothing to do.

Add +1 to your pages

Google+ teens

Google+ is now available to teens 13 and over and with new protections for those teens who join. Some of teens features are

Teens see a warning when they share with “Public” or “Extended Circles”.
By default, only the people in teens’ circles can interact with them and their posts.
Teens are muted if a stranger outside their circles joins the hangout.

The new age restrictions will undoubtedly help Google increase its user base.

Google+ Now Has 90 Million Users

According to CEO Larry Page, Google’s social network google+ Now Has 90 Million Users.Page also says that 60% of Google+ users engage daily, and 80% are active weekly. That either means Google+ has 54 million daily active users.”Google had a really strong quarter ending a great year. Full year revenue was up 29%, and our quarterly revenue blew past the $10 billion mark for the first time,” said Larry Page, CEO of Google.
