Quaternion IM Client for the Matrix Protocol

Quaternion is a free and open source Matrix IM client for Linux, Windows and MacOS. Using this app, you can manage user profile, accounts, create and join room, manage proxy, Notification, separate dock panel for rooms and users, edit tag order and quote style and more. It is based on Qt5 and released under GNU General Public License v3.0.

How to Install Quaternion on Ubuntu Linux

Quaternion is available as a portable AppImage and flatpak package. Download Quaternion in .AppImage file format from the above download link and save it in your Downloads folder. Open terminal (ctrl+alt+t) application and run below commands one by one.

cd Downloads
sudo chmod +x ~ quaternion-0.0.95.1.AppImage
./quaternion-0.0.95.1.AppImage

Here “quaternion-0.0.95.1.AppImage” is the downloaded file name and Downloads is the path.

Install Quaternion via Flatpak:

You need flatpak and flathub on your system to install any flatpak app. Follow below link for the installation tutorials. After the flatpak and flathub installation restart your system.

How to Install Flatpak and Flathub

In your terminal software run below Quaternion flatpak install command.

flatpak install flathub com.github.quaternion

After the Quaternion installation you can open it via below command or from Show Applications menu.

flatpak run com.github.quaternion

And uninstall it via

sudo flatpak uninstall com.github.quaternion
