DeaDBeeF Music Player – How to install DeaDBeeF on Ubuntu Linux

DeaDBeeF (as in 0xDEADBEEF) is a free and open source audio player for Linux and Windows. It plays a variety of audio formats like Mp3, ogg vorbis, flac, ape, wv/iso.wv, wav, m4a/m4b/mp4 (aac and alac), mpc, tta, cd audio and converts between them. You can also extend its features via plugins. It comes with playlist support, you can sort and group the tracks, ALSA and PulseAudio support, cuesheet (.cue files) support and full tag reading and writing support.

Download DeaDBeeF

Install DeaDBeeF on Ubuntu

Go to the above download link and download the latest version in deb package file and save it on your Downloads folder. Here the downloaded file name name is “deadbeef-static_1.8.8-1_amd64.deb“.

Open the terminal command-line application and run below command to install DeaDBeeF Music Player on your system.

sudo apt install ./Downloads/deadbeef-static_1.8.8-1_amd64 .deb

[OR] Simply

sudo apt install ./Downloads/deadbeef*.deb

Here “deadbeef-static_1.8.8-1_amd64.deb” is the downloaded file name. You can change above commands based on your file name and Download path. You can open it via the show application menu.

DeaDBeeF start

Install DeaDBeeF via Snap:

In terminal run below DeaDBeeF snap installation command.

sudo snap install deadbeef-vs
