Google announced a new google maps feature called Google MapsGL. It uses Google’s Web Graphics Library (GL) to bring 3D-like graphics to the browser without additional software. Supported browsers are Chrome 14+ or Firefox Beta with compatible video cards. It lets you swoop into Street View without a plugin and offer better 3D buildings.
