Google has made the decision to discontinue support for third-party cookies in Google Chrome. Achieving the same result is already possible by disabling third-party cookies within Chrome’s settings. Google is now planning to replace third-party cookie tracking with the Privacy Sandbox advertisement approach. This transition shifts the focus from tracking individual users to tracking user groups. Currently, the Privacy Sandbox includes features such as ad topics, site-suggested ads, and ad measurement. To enhance your privacy, it is recommended to disable all three of these options.
Turn off Google Chrome Ad Privacy Sandbox
Click the Google Chrome Menu (3 dot icon) and go to Settings -> Privacy and security -> Ad privacy [OR] directly go to below in chrome address bar.
chrome://settings/adPrivacy
Then click the Ad topics and toggle the preference to Off.
Go back to the main Settings page and select Site-suggested ads and toggle the preference to Off.
Again go back to the main Settings page and select Ad measurement and toggle the preference of Off.
Now go to the below url in the address bar.
chrome://settings/cookies
Now select “Block third-party cookies” under Default behavior and also turn off the “Allow related sites to see your activity in the group“.
With the new system disabled, both Google Chrome and advertisers are unable to track your online activity any longer. Additionally, websites will no longer have the capability to track you using cookies. This substantial change effectively eliminates a significant portion of online tracking. While this adjustment won’t reduce the overall number of ads you encounter on the internet, it will markedly decrease the prevalence of personalized advertisements.
