ThiefMD is a free and open source Markdown editor and file manager application for Linux systems. It is inspired by Ulysses and based on Quilter project. It is released under GNU General Public License v3.0. You can export your markdown files to PDF, ePub, docx, WriteFreely, Ghost, WordPress, and many more file formats. And also import files from ePub, docx and html.
It comes with Auto-save, Keyboard Shortcuts, KaTeX Support, Syntax Highlighting, YAML Frontmatter, Typewriter Scrolling, Theme Support, Search, Writing Statistics, Full Screen Editing and Focus Mode. It is also comes with Live Preview. You can see your writing in real time in a separate window allows for focusing on your writing.
Install ThiefMD on Ubuntu
ThiefMD is available as a flatpak and official PPA. You can install ThiefMD via the terminal console application.
Install ThiefMD via flatpak
If you don’t have flatpak on your system, then install flatpak and flathub on your system. After the installation restart your system. Open the terminal application and run below ThiefMD flatpak installation command.
flatpak install flathub com.github.kmwallio.thiefmd
You can run ThiefMD using this command in terminal.
flatpak run com.github.kmwallio.thiefmd
Install ThiefMD via PPA
In the terminal command-line application run these below commands one by one.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:thiefmd/thiefmd
The above command will add the ThiefMD’s PPA to your system. Press Enter during the installation to confirm it.
sudo apt-get update
This will install ThiefMD on your system.
sudo apt-get install com.github.kmwallio.thiefmd
