Ubuntu Touch for phones stable has been released for developers and industry partners.

Main features:

Shell and core applications
Connection to the GSM network
Phone calls and SMS

Ubuntu phone OS Unveiled

Mark Shuttleworth revealed that Canonical has developed a touchscreen based version of Ubuntu OS. Ubuntu for phone was made specifically for both high end and budget smartphones.

System requirements for Entry level Ubuntu smartphone:

Processor architecture – 1Ghz Cortex A9
Memory – 512MB
Flash storage –    4 to 8GB eMMC + SD

System requirements for High-end Ubuntu superphone:

Processor architecture – Quad-core A9 or Intel Atom
Memory – Min 1GB
Flash storage –    Min 32GB eMMC + SD
