Google Maps has been updated for Android and iOS. Whats new in this version?

Save and manage offline maps in a custom list.
Turn-by-turn navigation with lane guidance displays distance, arrival time, and quick access to alternate routes.
Transit results now display total walking time of your trip and the next scheduled bus or train.
Sign in to see your “Places to review” list from recently saved or searched-for places.
If you have the Uber app installed, open it right from Google Maps when comparing route options.

New Google Maps

Google has announced a new version of its popular Maps application at its I/O conference.

New features:

A Whole New Look.
new user-contribution feature called Map Maker.
zoom in on maps and see 3D renderings of buildings while searching for locations.
Users will now be able to see whether their friends have rated places using a new five-point rating scale.
new Explore feature.
Google Offers will now be integrated within Maps.
live coverage of incidents from around the world.
Dynamic rerouting in traffic view.
includes a schedule viewer for train and bus arrival times.
Google Earth have also been integrated into Maps to see famous landmarks and dynamically view 3D renders of them.

Google announced a new google maps feature called Google MapsGL. It uses Google’s Web Graphics Library (GL) to bring 3D-like graphics to the browser without additional software. Supported browsers are Chrome 14+ or Firefox Beta with compatible video cards. It lets you swoop into Street View without a plugin and offer better 3D buildings. Google Maps launched a new feature that allows user to preview the route in 3D.Just enter start, mid and endpoint destinations to get directions as usual, and a new 3D play button will appear next to the returned directions.click on the button and the map will switch to Earth view and automatically start flying you along your recommended route. To get back to 2D mode by clicking on the “2D” button in the left panel at any time.

Google maps voice search

Today google launched a new feature to google maps. The new feature allow users to search using voice in google maps. Just click the microphone icon and speak into your computer to search places and get directions. This voice search function is only available to google chrome users.
