Mozilla announces Firefox Mobile OS

Mozilla has announced that B2G will now be known as FireFox Mobile OS and the first FireFox Mobile OS device will launch in Brazil in early 2013 under Telefonica’s local carrier, Vivo.

Mozilla also revealed the new carriers that will support the OS are Telefonica,T-Mobile,Etisalat, Smart, Sprint, Telecom Italia, and Telenor.

According to Mozilla ZTE and Alcatel will both make FireFox Mobile OS devices and Qualcomm will provide Snapdragon processors for the phones.

Mozilla announces iPad browser Firefox Junior

Mozilla has announced Junior, a WebKit-based firefox browser for iPad.
From Mozilla “Junior — an iPad browser that makes browsing more fun, more ergonomic and re-thinks browser user experience from the ground up.”
There’s no release date for Junior yet.

Mozilla Marketplace launched

Mozilla has launched Mozilla Marketplace,an early version of an app store for web-based apps which can be installed on a Windows, Mac, or Linux computer. You will need to install the latest Firefox 16 Nightly build in order to try the Marketplace. There are fewer than 200 apps now.

Mozilla firefox 13 final is now available for download from Mozilla’s FTP site. It is currently not available on the firefox official homepage but expected to be available in June 5.

what’s new in this firefox 13?

When opening a new tab, users are now presented with their most visited pages
The default home page now has quicker access to bookmarks, history, settings, and more
SPDY protocol now enabled by default for faster browsing on supported sites

Mozilla removing favicons in Firefox

A Mozilla developer Jared Wein posted that favicons will be removed from Firefox’s address bar in a future release.The reason for the removal of the favicon is due to a security issue and there are no plans to remove favicons from tabs, bookmarks, or Awesomebar suggestions.
