How to install Bing Desktop Wallpaper Changer on ubuntu

Bing Desktop Wallpaper Changer is a free python script from the developer Utkarsh Gupta. This script automatically updates your Ubuntu desktop wallpaper to the current bing.com image of the day background picture. This script will run automatically at the startup and works on Linux with Gnome.

To install Bing Desktop Wallpaper Changer on Ubuntu, Open your terminal. To open terminal click the Dash home from unity launcher.And type terminal in the search field. And click Terminal.

Type the below command in the terminal and hit enter.

Bing adds 215 terabytes of new images

Microsoft has announced in a blog post that it has added a 215 terabytes of new satellite and Global Ortho images to the Bing Maps database. United States and features certain areas in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Tokyo. The total area covered in this data release is nearly 230,004 square kilometers and consists of  over 1.1 million files.

Bing adds 165 terabytes of new images to Bing Maps

Microsoft has announced in a blog post that it has added a165 terabytes of new satellite and Global Ortho images to the Bing Maps database.It covers imagery over North America, South America, Africa, Australia, Europe and Asia. The total area covered in this data release is nearly 38 million square kilometers.

Bing has announced a partnership with Encyclopedia Britannica to integrate Britannica Online answers directly in the Bing results page.The answer from Britannica Encyclopedia provides a quick overview of the subject, a thumbnail image, and useful facts and figures making it easier than ever to get trusted content in search.

Nokia announced that Bing Maps now uses Nokia Maps traffic information and geocoding algorithms. That means Bing Maps is now using Nokia Maps geocoding in several countries to offer better routes and directions and offer the same traffic information that is already available at Nokia Maps in 24 countries

Bing going to charge for it’s search API

Microsoft has announced that it will move the Bing Search API to Microsoft’s Windows Azure Marketplace and going to charge for it’s search API calls.

Some Notes:

approximately $40 (USD) per month for up to 20,000 queries.
transition will begin in several weeks and will take a few months to complete.
After the transition period, Bing Search API 2.0 will no longer be available for free public use
