Quiet Audio Fade or Quiet AF is a free and open source system tray application for Linux and Windows which slowly decreases your computer system volume bit by bit over time and letting you find the quietest working volume level for you. It is really a nice concept and it maybe save our hearing. If you increase your computer volume then the app disable itself and fix your volume at the correct level. It is written in Go and released under GNU General Public License v3.0.
You can check the current volume in Quiet AF and manually enable and disable Quiet AF via system tray. Also change the speed interval time between each decrease in volume.
Install Quiet Audio Fade on Ubuntu
Quiet Audio Fade is available as a portable package for Ubuntu Linux you can run it from your terminal software.
Download “QuietAF_Ubuntu” file from the above download link and save it on your Downloads folder. Open the terminal app (ctrl+alt+t) and run below commands one by one.
cd Downloads
sudo chmod +x ~ QuietAF_Ubuntu
./QuietAF_Ubuntu
You can control the app from system tray. That’s it.
