Install the latest version of TeamViewer on Ubuntu – Remote access easily

TeamViewer is a proprietary easy to use remote control and file transfer and software for Windows, Linux, Mac OS, Chrome OS, Android, iOS and Blackberry. Using TeamViewer, you can control others computer or mobile, share your desktop or mobile screen with others with 256Bit AES encryption support. You can do lot more with this like wake, restart, and install applications on your remote system, share files, Print documents from the remote computer and 4K remote desktop access. It also comes with some online meetings & collaboration features such as blizz virtual whiteboard, text chat, HD VoIP voice and video conferencing and session recording.

TeamViewer is completely free for personal use and for business purpose with some additional features, you need to pay.

Install the latest version of TeamViewer on Ubuntu:

You can download the latest version of Teamviewer for Linux from the below download link.

Download TeamViewer for Linux

Go to the above download link and select 64bit or 32bit based on your Ubuntu linux OS under Ubuntu, Debian. deb package section and download it.

After that, install the downloaded deb package file with your favorite package installer. Currently i am using GDebi Package Installer to install TeamViewer. If you don’t have GDebi Package Installer just install it with the below command in your terminal app. Open your terminal app (Ctrl+Alt+T) and type the below command and hit enter.

sudo apt install gdebi

If you don’t want to install it via terminal, then you can also install GDebi Package Installer via Ubuntu Software app.

After that right click on the downloaded TeamViewer .deb file (Here its: teamviewer_14.6.2452_amd64.deb) and select open with other software and choose GDebi Package Installer.

Then click install Package. Type your Ubuntu user password if needed. It will install TeamViewer on your Ubuntu system. That’s all.

If you prefer installing teamviewer without GDebi package installed then run the below commands to install it.

sudo apt-get update
cd Downloads

Here Downloads is my default download folder. You can change based on your downloaded location.

sudo dpkg -i teamviewer_14.6.2452_amd64.deb

You change this based on your teamviewer downloaded file name. Its teamviewer_14.6.2452_amd64.deb for me. Then

sudo apt-get install -f

After the installation of TeamViewer remote access tool, click the show applications in the Ubuntu Gnome dock and type teamviewer in the search box and click teamviewer to open it.

Usage is very easy. If you want to control your friend’s computer, get your friend’s teamviewer ID and Password and put in Control Remote computer section and click the connect button. That’s all. now you can access your friends computer.
