How to install Kid3 on Ubuntu – Kid3 Audio Tag Editor

Kid3 is a free open source cross platform Audio Tag Editor for Linux, Windows, macOS and Android. Using Kid3 Audio Tag Editor you can edit tags in MP3, Ogg/Vorbis, DSF, FLAC, MPC, MP4/AAC, MP2, Opus, Speex, TrueAudio, WavPack, WMA, WAV, AIFF files and MOD, S3M, IT, XM audio file formats easily. It is released under open source GNU General Public License.Using Kid3 you can edit and convert between ID3v1.1, ID3v2.3 and ID3v2.4 tags. one of the important features of Kid3 Audio Tag Editor is edit tags of multiple files without typing the same information again and again. And it supports generating of tags from filenames and contents of tag fields. You can also generate of playlist files and filenames from tags.

It also support import and export of tag details. Supported export file formats are CSV, HTML, playlists and Kover XML. You can directly import content from gnudb.org, TrackType.org, MusicBrainz, Discogs and Amazon.

Install Kid3 Audio Tag Editor on Ubuntu:

You can directly install the latest version Kid3 Audio Tag Editor on Ubuntu via its official PPA. First you need to open your terminal app in Ubuntu. Then type the below command in the terminal and after that enter the enter key.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ufleisch/kid3

Then type your Ubuntu Password and hit enter. During the PPA addition, it will ask to confirm the aaddition. Just press your enter key. Then run the below command in the terminal.

sudo apt-get update

Then type the below command in the terminal and hit the enter key to install the latest version Kid3 Audio Tag Editor on Ubuntu.

sudo apt-get install kid3-qt

During the Kid3 installation press the Y key and then the enter key to confirm the installation of Kid3 Audio Tag Editor. After the installation of Kid3 Audio Tag Editor, click the show applications in the Ubuntu Gnome dock and type kid3 in the search box and click kid3-qt to open it. For Unity you can search kid3 from Ubuntu dash.

If you want to install the CLI (command line interface) version of the kid3 , then run the below command in the terminal.

sudo apt-get install kid3-cli

For kubuntu users run the below command in terminal to install Kid3 Audio Tag Editor on Kubuntu.

sudo apt-get install kid3
