If your icons are not displaying correctly or your icon cache is corrupted like the below image, just rebuild the the Icon Cache.
To rebuild the the Icon Cache or fix this broken Start Menu ans Taskbar icons in Windows:
1.Open the Windows Explorer
2.Go to
%userprofile%\AppData\Local
and delete IconCache.db.
3.Open Task Manager and go to the Processes tab, highlight the explorer.exe and click End Process.
4.In Task Manger, go to File and select New Task (Run…),
5.Type
explorer.exe
and click OK.
6.Your desktop should reappear with the previously missing icons.
