Goodbye, IE6 from wordpress.com

From wordpress blog “WordPress has discontinued support for Internet Explorer 6. It has required increasingly complex code trickery to make the WordPress dashboard work in the IE6 browser, which was introduced 10 years ago and does not support current web standards.”

VirtualBox 4.0.8 released

Oracle’s VirtualBox 4.0.8 is now available for download. This is just a maintenance release. It improves stability and fixes regressions. VirtualBox is a powerful x86 and AMD64/Intel64 virtualization product for enterprise as well as home use.

Some fixes are

incompatibility with recent Mac OS X versions in 64-bit mode
potential crash during shutdown
removed assumption that string descriptors are null-terminated
added support for X.Org Server 1.10

Microsoft Acquires Skype

Microsoft announced that it has acquired Skype for $8.5 billion. The acquisition will increase the accessibility of real-time video and voice communications. Now Skype will support Xbox,Kinect, Windows Phone and a wide array of Windows devices, and Microsoft will connect Skype users with Lync, Outlook, Xbox Live and other communities.
