Dennis Ritchie dies at 70 (unix & c creator)

Dennis MacAlistair Ritchie died on October 8, 2011 at the age of 70 after a prolonged illness (prostate cancer and heart disease). Dennis Ritchie was born September 9, 1941 in Bronxville, New York. He was the principal designer of the C programming language and co-developer of the Unix operating system. whose variants — most notably Linux and OS X.

200 million chrome and 40 million google+ users

In a press release from Google, CEO Larry Page said that “Google+ is now open to everyone and we just passed the 40 million user mark. People are flocking into Google+ at an incredible rate and we are just getting started!”
And the three year old google chrome browser hits the 200 million users. According to Net Applications,in September Total market share of  google chrome is 16.20%.

Google MapsGL

Google announced a new google maps feature called Google MapsGL. It uses Google’s Web Graphics Library (GL) to bring 3D-like graphics to the browser without additional software. Supported browsers are Chrome 14+ or Firefox Beta with compatible video cards. It lets you swoop into Street View without a plugin and offer better 3D buildings. Art Clokey’s 90th birthday google doodle

The search giant Google is celebrating the 90th birthday of Art Clokey with an interactive google doodle on its homepage. The “L” invite the user to click on the other balls and each ball is a different character that animates when clicked on.
Arthur “Art” Clokey (October 12, 1921 – January 8, 2010) was a pioneer in the popularization of stop motion clay animation, beginning in 1955 with a film experiment called Gumbasia.
