Text-to-Speech API for Chrome extensions

Google announced a new Text-to-Speech API for Chrome extensions.With the new API,users just need to add “tts” to your permissions and it is easy to change the rate, pitch, and volume. In addition to the main API, Google also introduced the TTS Engine API which allows developers to implement a Text-to-Speech (TTS) engine.Users that have Chrome on Mac OS X or Windows, or those using Chrome OS, should be able to use the native client voices immediately. Linux users will have to download a voice from the Chrome Web Store.

Google announced a new feature for Google Analytics called Flow Visualization. It is a dynamic way to view Google Analytics data and instantly understand how visitors flow across pages on site.It utilizes the lens of a Sankey diagram, a specific type of flow diagram. Visitors Flow and Goal Flow.The Visitors Flow view provides a graphical representation of visitors’ flow through the site by traffic source.Goal Flow provides a graphical representation for how visitors flow through your goal steps.

Google SSL-encrypted search

Google announced that SSL-encrypted search will be the default for signed-in users. https://www.google.com This change encrypts the search queries and Google’s results page. This is especially important when you’re using an unsecured Internet connection, such as a WiFi hotspot in an Internet cafe.When someone search from https://www.google.com and websites you visit from google organic search listings will still know that they came from Google, but won’t receive information about each individual query.

Angry Birds 30 million daily active users

According to Andrew Stalbow Rovio‘s GM of North America,various version of Angry Birds have been downloaded 400 million times. 30 million users play the game on a daily basis.130 million people play Angry Birds monthly basis.Gamers spend  300 million minutes playing Angry Birds daily. That’s 109.5 billion minutes per year, or 1.825 billion hours.

Google is shutting down Google buzz, code search, jaiku and some other

Google is shutting down some of its services. Shut down product list:

Code Search along with the Code Search API on January 15, 2012.
Google Buzz and the Buzz API in few weeks.
Jaiku will shut down on January 15, 2012.
iGoogle’s social features on January 15, 2012. iGoogle and non-social iGoogle applications, will stay as they are.
The University Research Program for Google Search will close on January 15, 2012.
