Install Shotcut Video Editor on Ubuntu

For the Linux system it comes as a portable .AppImagem snap and flatpak package files. Just download the latest Shotcut app .AppImage file from the above download link and save it on your Downloads folder. Now open the terminal app (ctrl+alt+t) and run below commands one by one. Here “shotcut-linux-x86_64-221221.AppImage” is the downloaded file name. You can change below command based on your file name and path.

cd Downloads
sudo chmod +x ~ shotcut-linux-x86_64-221221.AppImage
./shotcut-linux-x86_64-221221.AppImage

Install Shotcut Video Editor via Snap:

In Ubuntu, open your terminal app and run the below command.

sudo snap install shotcut --classic

Install Shotcut via Flatpak:

First you need to install the latest version of flatpak and flathub on your system and restart it after the installation.

Now in the terminal run below Shotcut flatpak install command. It will install the latest version of Shotcut on your system

flatpak install flathub org.shotcut.Shotcut

And start Shotcut using

flatpak run org.shotcut.Shotcut

And uninstall Shotcut using below command.

sudo flatpak uninstall org.shotcut.Shotcut
