Facebook shutting down Face.com API and Kilk

Facebook is shutting down Face.com’s facial recognition APIs and Face.com’s iOS app, Klik, is also being removed from the App store. After July 20th 2012 Face.com will dispose of the data collect in connection with the use of the KLIK app.

Facebook forces @facebook.com e-mail addresses to all users

Facebook now changed the displayed default email address of all users to its own @facebook.com email addresses without any warning.

Advantage:
may reduce the email spam.

Disadvantage:
mails do not land in the inbox of your connected email account.

Fix:

visit your Facebook’s profile page.
click on the update info button.
locate Contact Info module and click on the edit button.
click the button and select hidden from timeline.
to show original email address select the shown on timeline option.
click on the save button at the bottom of the menu to save the changes.

Facebook announced that it has 901 million users,as of March 31, 2012, an increase of 33% as compared to 680 millionas of March 31, 2011.

526 million daily active users on average in March 2012, an increase of 41% as compared to 372 million in March 2011.

Facebook Buys Instagram for $1 Billion

Facebook announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire Instagram for about $1 billion in a combination of cash and shares. Instagram is a popular photo-sharing app for mobile devices.
