Kupfer is a free and open source Launcher application for Linux. Using Kupfer, you can easily, quickly find and launch applications and their documents. It comes with plugin support to extend its features. It is written in Python and released under GNU General Public License v3.0. It is very configurable and keyboard focused application. It also comes with default command mode and text mode, set directory inclusion, keyboard shortcuts, terminal and more.
Install Kupfer on Ubuntu Linux
You can install Kupfer from the default Ubuntu repository. Open the terminal command-line application ctrl+alt+t and run below Kupfer apt installation command. It will install the latest version of Kupfer launcher on your system.
sudo apt install kupfer -y
After the installation you can open it using below command.
kupfer
Kupfer’s default mode is the command mode. Just type a query and it will search for a match.
The arrow keys allow you to browse query matches quite naturally.
In command mode, some keyboard shortcuts
? or Space: Go to the next match
? or Shift+Space: Go to the previous match
? or / : Descend into an object with content
You can also uninstall it using below command.
sudo apt remove kupfer
