How to install XDM Xtreme Download Manager On Ubuntu

XDM or Xtreme Download Manager is free download manager for Linux, Windows and mac. The main feature of this download manager is streaming videos download support. Using this download manager you can download videos from your favorite sites like YouTube, Metacafe, DailyMotion, Google Video or any other website. It supports resume download. And you can also schedule the downloads.

XDM supports all popular browsers including Microsoft Edge, IE, Chrome, AOL, MSN, Mozilla, Netscape, Firefox, Avant Browser and Safari.

Install Xtreme Download Manager On Ubuntu

Download XDM from below links according to your OS type (32bit or 64bit). The downloaded file size is around 34MB.

Download XDM for Linux 64 bit

Download XDM for Linux 32 bit

Here the downloaded file is xdm-2018-x64.tar.xz

I am using 64bit version of XDM.

Right click on the xdm-2018-x64.tar.xz file and select Extract Here to unzip it. The default downloaded location is Downloads folder. The extracted folder will look like “xdm-2018-x64“.

Now open your terminal app and switch to the directory where you have extracted tar compressed file. In the terminal run the below command.

cd Downloads/xdm-2018-x64

then run the below code to install the XDM.

sudo ./install.sh

After the successful installation, type the below command in terminal as non root user.

xdman

It will open the Xtreme Download Manager On your Ubuntu system. If you need app shortcut, just right click on unity launcher and select lock to gnome dock option. After the installation of Xtreme Download Manager, click the show apps in the Ubuntu dock and type Xtreme Download Manager in the search box and click Xtreme Download Manager to open it.
