How To Install Soundconverter on Ubuntu – Multi-threaded Audio Converter

Soundconverter is a free and open source audio conversion utility for Linux. Using this simple and easy to use audio converter, you can convert any GStreamer supported files like AAC, MP3, FLAC, Ogg Vorbis, MOV, M4A, AC3, WAV, AVI, MPEG, DTS, ALAC, MPC, Shorten, APE, SID, MOD, XM and S3M to Opus, MP3 AAC, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC and WAV file formats. It uses multiple cpu cores so the file conversion is fast. You can also use this app for extract audio files from video files. Other important feature is you can change the converted filenames and create new folders according to the audio tags. It is released under open source GNU general public license v3.0.

Install Soundconverter on Ubuntu

You can install Soundconverter via default ubuntu package manager. For that first open the Terminal (Clrt+Alt+T) console, Then type the below software list update command and press the enter key. if needed type your Ubuntu user password.

sudo apt update

After that, run the Sound converter installation command.

sudo apt install soundconverter

It will install the latest version of Sound converter audio converter on Ubuntu. You can start it by running this command on terminal

The user interface is simple and straight forward just add files using add file icon or via add folder icon. Then hit the convert button to convert it. You can change the settings via preferences button. That’s all.

Install Soundconverter via Flatpak:

You can also install Soundconverter on your system using below flatpak command.

flatpak install flathub org.soundconverter.SoundConverter

And open it using below command.

flatpak run org.soundconverter.SoundConverter
