How to install MusE on Ubuntu – Digital Audio Workstation

MusE is a free and open source audio and MIDI sequencer for Linux. You can use this software as a digital audio workstation. It comes with real time recording and editing features also. It is a feature rich multitrack virtual studio for your system with Audio inputs, Audio outputs, Wave tracks, Group tracks and Aux outputs. It supports ACK-audio, JACK-midi, LASH, DSSI, VST(i), ALSA-midi, RtAudio, ALSA, OSS, LV2 and FLAM. You can input and export mono stereo.It is Qt based and released under GNU General Public License. Some other features are Piano roll, Drum editor, List view and Score editor.

Install MusE on Ubuntu:

You can easily install MusE with the default package manager and via flatpak. You can also follow this method on all other ubuntu based distro. Open the terminal application (ctrl+alt+t) and type this command to update the Ubuntu software source list.

sudo apt update

Enter your Ubuntu password and then run MusE installation command.

sudo apt install muse

Confirm the installation. After the installation run this command to open it. Or you can open from applications menu list.

Install MusE via Flatpak

First you need to setup flatpak and flathub on your system . follow below link for that.

How to install flatpak on ubuntu

After that run below flatpak Muse installation commands.

flatpak install flathub org.musesequencer.Muse3

You can start MusE by this command.

flatpak run org.musesequencer.Muse3
