How to avoid the Thumbs.db File in Windows XP

To avoid the Thumbs.db file

Open My Computer or any folder and then click tools menu.
select Folder options.. and click view tab.
Check the Do not cache thumbnails check box in the advances setting section.
Press the OK button.

Note: Thumbs.db is a system file and it is generated automatically When you view the folder in Thumbnail or Filmstrip view.

How to Move My Documents Folder in Windows XP

This process is useful when you dont have more space in your windows drive. By default My Documents folder is located on the drive that contains the Windows XP operating system. Moving your My Documents folder generally frees up a lot space on your c (windows) drive. It is easy to move your My Documents folder to another partition or hard drive.

How To Make File Types Visible in Windows Explorer

By default, Windows Explorer does not show extensions for known file types. To Make File Types Visible in Windows Explorer

1. Open Windows Explorer (or My Computer) on your computer.

2. Click Tools->Folder Options.

3. Select View tab.

4. Under Advanced Settings option, uncheck ‘Hide extensions for known file types’.
