How to install PeaZip on ubuntu

PeaZip is a free and open-source file archiver for Microsoft Windows, Linux and BSD. It is written in Free Pascal, using Lazarus and released under GNU Lesser General Public License. It supports more than 188 file extensions, like native PEA archive format and some other popular formats like 7Z, ACE, RAR, TAR, ZIP, ZIPX. For linux it comes in two version. one is in GTK2 and the other is in Qt. Portable versions are also available.

Install PeaZip on Ubuntu

To install PeaZip on Ubuntu, go to above PeaZip download page and download the portable version of PeaZip Portable GTK2.It not require installation, simply de-compress and start the application clicking on peazip binary.

For me the downloaded file name is peazip_portable-9.4.0.LINUX.GTK2.x86_64.tar.gz. (It will change based on your version) Just right-click and select extract.extract here option. Now open the extracted folder and select Run or double click the PeaZip executable file to run the PeaZip application.

Install PeaZip via DEB:

You can also install PeaZip via the deb package file. Just download the PeaZip in .deb file format from the same above PeaZip download link and save it on your Downloads folder.

Here the downloaded file name is “peazip_9.4.0.LINUX.GTK2-1_amd64.deb”. You can change below commands based on your file name.

Open the terminal app (ctrl+alt+t) and run below command.

sudo apt install ./Downloads/peazip*.deb

[OR]

sudo apt install ./Downloads/peazip_9.4.0.LINUX.GTK2-1_amd64.deb

You can open it via the Show Apps menu from the Ubuntu dock or via below command
